Interview with Kaity Best

a.) what is your blog title/link and when did it erupt?

I gave birth to my pride and joy shortly before a semester spent abroad in Uganda my junior year of college. I wrote as a way to update my family and friends on my African adventures, but left it fairly neglected upon my return. A couple months ago I decided I truly missed writing and felt I had something to say so I started (trying) to blog daily and become more immersed in the blogging community.

My blog title is …and all these twisted thoughts I see, Jesus there in between… and I can be found at http://kaitybest.blogspot.com.

b.) what inspired you to start blogging and what inspires you to this day to keep writing?

Mostly, I just love to write. I’m a big believer in counting your blessings and my blog gives me the opportunity to not only acknowledge all the wonderful things happening in my life but share them with others who feel the same. I’m in my 20′s, so I’m at a point in my life where I’m constantly undergoing change and it’s incredibly cathartic to be able to not only write about my thoughts and feelings, but take part in the same kinds of thoughts from other bloggers going through the same things I am.

c.) what is your blogging about? tell us your personality and how you write your posts! do you tell it like it is or are you a little more discrete.

My blog is a personal one. I blog about my life. My ups and downs, my success and failures and everything in between. I love blogging about love. It’s a fairly new phenomenon in my life and easily the most enjoyable. I’m also in the process of attaining my graduate degree in Food Studies so I love writing about all things related- recipes, gardening and hunger issues.

I feel like my most well-written posts are usually the most honest and that’s just the person I am. I’m a terrible liar and I wear my heart on my sleeve so my blog mirrors my personality in that way.

d.) how do you feel about “networking”

I’m terrible at it. I try to leave comment love when I can and LOVE getting it in return, but that’s about the extent of my networking skills.

e.) obviously you are blogging for you, but would you {or do you} blog for business? would you like to turn your daytime blogging into your fulltime career?

In a heartbeat! It was because I started blogging regularly and realized how much I loved it that I decided to pursue a concentration in Writing/Communications in my graduate career. I’m so passionate about hunger and social justice issues and feel like writing is the best way to communicate that fire inside me. If ever a hunger relief organization needs a full-time blogger, let me know!

f.) share two blogs that inspire you, your daily reads

Momma St.J is a real life friend of mine and blogs about marriage, grace and family. She is a beautiful woman of God and is completely honest about her triumphs and struggles as a new Mommy. Her blog can be found at: http://gracefulstjs.blogspot.com/

Lucy is someone I stumbled upon through FTLOB. She is a wife, a Mommy of two and a high school English teacher. Her posts chronicle all facets of her life and I’ve come to completely admire her valiance in revealing her innermost thoughts. She is witty, fun and simply put, a beautiful writer. She blogs at: http://queenlucythevaliant.blogspot.com/

g.) your favorite saying/quote or a secret no one knows about

I’m a pretty open book, so the closest thing I have to a secret is that I’m a former marriage skeptic and cynical single lady now engaged to the love of my life. My blog is full of occasional freak-outs about the married life I never thought I wanted.
