Interview with Untypically Jia

a.) what is your blog title/link and when did it erupt?

Untypically Jia started getting real action once I took my shoes off. Metaphorically. I decided in February of 2010 that I was going to stop being a million things to a million people and instead be myself and if people liked it, then great, and if they didn’t, then no skin off my back. I can’t please everyone.

b.) what inspired you to start blogging and what inspires you to this day to keep writing?

I originally started blogging because I love to write. The internet has always seemed to provide me with my social network of friends and blogging seemed like a good way to combine the two. When I found healing through blogging it was taken to a higher level. Blogging to air out our inner demons, to reach out for support, celebrate milestones and helping others in need. It’s all one big family here in the blogosphere.

c.) what is your blogging about? tell us your personality and how you write your posts! do you tell it like it is or are you a little more discrete.

I blog about my own personal development and my life in general. I blog about living with depression, anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder. I blog about my struggles with weight loss and infertility. I blog about my mother’s death and how because of her I am driven to spread the message of never drinking and driving. I used to be discrete in my writing, but it kept too much inside. I had to let the crazy out. While I do try to keep my words as polite as possible, I don’t censor myself anymore. I blog the same way that I talk – though I’m sure in my writing there are a lot less “uh”s, “like”s and “but”s.

d.) how do you feel about “networking”

Networking is all about support. Since I don’t sell a product, networking to me is basically making friends. Helping each other out even if all that person needs is a retweet or a like.

e.) obviously you are blogging for you, but would you {or do you} blog for business? would you like to turn your daytime blogging into your fulltime career?

I would love to turn my blog into my career. I would love to somehow be a source for those who are struggling with mental illness. I would love to use my blog to help MADD and other sources that help survivors of drinking and driving.

f.) share two blogs that inspire you, your daily reads

http://thebloggess.com/ – She has inspired me to be myself in so many ways, and has probably saved my life on a number of occasions

http://oscbb.blogspot.com/ – One of my best friends and fellow weight loss enthusiast. Charlie is my weight loss mentor and this last year she hit 100 pounds lost!

g.) your favorite saying/quote or a secret no one knows about

“Nothing will go right today, so I will relax and be amused by it.”
